Save up to 45% on heating and cooling energy with roof insulation
Why insulate? Insulation is a product that is underrated and undervalued for what it can do for your home.
The Green Energy Shop recommends and uses cellulose fibre as the insulation material of choice.
Cellulose fibre
Cellulose fibre is the most efficient insulation material on the market, meaning that it traps more heat inside your house in the winter, stops less heat getting in during the hot summer months, and saves you the most money on your energy bills.
Made entirely from a mixture of pulverised, recycled cardboard (for density) & newspaper, cellulose is permanently treated to be fire-retardant – in fact, studies have shown that cellulose fibre actually slows the spread of fire. The only other treatment added is designed to repel household vermin, helping keep your roof space cleaner.
Unrivalled efficiency
Just a 5% gap in insulation will reduce the effectiveness of insulation efficiency by half[1]. Because The Green Energy Shop’s trained installers spray cellulose in rather than laying material down in sheets, it can fill up every nook and cranny of your roof - whatever the pitch or shape - ensuring that there are no gaps, and that you get the efficiency that you paid for.
Insulation is measured in terms of its thermal resistance, referred to as a R-Value. The higher this value, the more effective the insulation is at reducing the flow of heat, and cellulose has one of the highest R-Value of all insulation materials on the market.
The top 10 reasons to install cellulose fibre insulation:
- A lightweight, non-allergic, non-irritant material.
- Made from natural recycled paper product - contains no asbestos or fibreglass.
- Can be easily installed into any roof shape.
- Fire resistant[2] and vermin resistant.
- Stops mildew in ceilings.
- Keeps your house warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
- Saves up to 30%-50% on cooling and heating costs, and adds value to your property.
- Can reduce sound between rooms of up to 66%.
- The energy used in its production is up to six times less than other insulation materials.
- Lasts the life of your home.
Beware of cheaper materials
Cheaper materials such as formaldehyde foam, rock wool, eel grass aren’t as efficient as cellulose fibre, and are more hazardous to your and your family’s health. Inhaling glassfibre means just that – inhaling tiny shards of glass – and may cause cancer[3].
The other popular type of insulation is reflective, using metal foil such as aluminium to reflect heat away from a property.
Save money now, save money later
Cellulose fibre is the world's leading environmentally-friendly insulation. This means that you can save money now as well as on your future energy bills.
